The Sr. Manager of User Experience (UX) and Design will be accountable for the product design of qurate digital experiences. These digital experiences include internal systems (i.e.- contact center) as well as customer facing experiences (i.e.- apps, digital, social, voice, and TV). Working through the leadership of the VP of Customer Journey, the candidate will develop and lead of team of global UX Product Designers, Visual Designers and Architects. They will also have accountability for the creation of design systems and design best practices to enhance the company’s brand essence and digital sales strategies across all qurate markets.
 
Job Description Details
 

  • Responsible for bringing the user experience brand to life through visual design. This includes driving the design strategy and deliverables, creative direction, visual standards, and best practices as well as ensuring integration with the Brand Standards, as defined by the Global Brand Creative team.
  • Responsible for leading the UX Product Designer team in their ownership of the overall UX Product Design including design research, agile design management, and performance tracking
  • Responsible for building a design system for qurate
  • Working with VP of Customer Journey, establish cohesive creative direction for the Interactive platforms
  • Working directly with the Product Managers, Product Owners, and IT PMs in developing visual approach and processes to support the product strategy, and drive global efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team of UX Designers, Architects  and UX Product Designer to support each Product Vertical, responsible for application of the brand standards, visualizing new ideas/concepts, and creation of the specific visual assets required for feature enhancements and capabilities.
  • Act as an advocate for qurates’s brand and visual standards.
  • Act as an advocate for the User Experience and Customer Journey
  • Mentor and guide the team on prototyping
  • Advance the teams prototyping capabilities and tool set
  • Lead the seamless user experience efforts for the team ensuring that we have consistency in ADA requirements, Visual Design and overall user experience.
  • Advocate for human centered design process
  • Advocate for behavioral design considerations ensuring that the team understands the psychology behind user centered design and customer behaviors
  • Be an expert in customer behavior across all segments
  • Provide quality control over concepts and deliverables
  • Leader of Leaders – will develop a manager of design systems and build this as a core capability for the qurate organization
  • Responsible for the overall performance management and career mentoring of the Qurate Design staff including developing accountabilities, promotion criteria and training curricula as well as conducting annual reviews and overall development planning for the team

Critical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching brand right interactive user experiences that drive customer and business results
  • Strong attention to visual detail and esthetic
  • Knowledge of grids/layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web; must have the ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and develop innovative interactive and motion graphics solutions
  • Balanced Creative and UX background, with experience in ecommerce platforms for web, mobile, and apps
  • Working knowledge of UX fundamentals, interactive communications, data driven content, content management systems, and industry best practices
  • Confortable designing for new technologies and platforms with limited industry examples to work from
  • Risk-oriented and able to push the design while always maintaining the overall band 
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Excellent teamwork skills; including leading globally located teams
  • A team player who is able to establish credibility in a complex organization

  • Experience in applying effective UX Design process to Product Management/Development methodologies, including both Agile and Waterfall with flexibility to work in a variety of ways to deliver results.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of varying experience levels and across global locations
  • Experience in behavioral design and UX best practices
  • Expert in prototyping and rapid iteration
  • Expert in Product Design practices such as “Design Thinking”

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience managing Creative teams, UX Teams and/or projects
  • 8+ years experience in the Creative and/or Interactive Design field
  • Must be able to show proven experience in ecommerce and mobile commerce design
  • Experience with IP-based media, and cable/broadcast television a plus
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a multi-function and globally based organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

 
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or similar
